The Brands
of luxury fashion brands offer extended sizing beyond a size 20 — with the same design attention as their straight-size line.
We spent six months ordering, washing, wearing, and returning. Here are the four who passed.
"The question isn't whether a brand makes your size. It's whether they designed for your body or just stretched a pattern."
The Gaps
still
broken.
Celebration first, critique second. These aren't complaints — they're engineering failures with specific, fixable solutions.

94%
of denim brands use the same rise across all extended sizes
The Denim Problem
High-rise denim above a size 18 is almost universally cut with a rise that hits at the natural waist but gapes at the back. Exactly two brands — Madewell and Good American — have addressed this with an extended back rise. The rest are selling you a styling problem.

mainstream brands who publish sleeve cap ease in their fit guides
The Sleeve Cap Silence
Thick arms need a sleeve cap with more ease — typically 1.5" to 2" more than a straight-size pattern. Without it, the sleeve pulls across the bicep and restricts movement. Almost no brand documents this in their size guides. Eloquii does. They are the exception.

67%
of "extended range" items we tested had different fabric composition than straight-size equivalents
The Fabric Downgrade
Extended sizes frequently receive a different fabric composition than straight sizes — more polyester, less structure, thinner weight. We tested the same "linen" shirt from three brands in both a size 10 and a size 20. Two of the three were different fabrics.
"Inclusive sizing isn't a marketing position. It's a pattern-making discipline. You either know how bodies above a size 16 are shaped, or you don't."
